  • Curtis confident over Teaforthree National bid

Teaforthree remains on course for the Aintree Grand National and trainer Rebecca Curtis is feeling confident ahead of the race.

The ten-year-old is the favourite for the race after finishing third twelve months ago and Curtis is expecting a huge performance.

Curtis explained:  “It is every trainer’s ambition to win the Grand National but, of course, you need a bit of luck to make that dream come true.

“He came out of the Cheltenham race fine and is in great form. I don’t think it took anything out of him.

“He ran very well last year but now I am hopefully expecting a bit more from him. If the going is on the softer side of good, that will suit him.

  • Twiston-Davies set for Tidal Bay ride

Paul Nicholls has confirmed that Sam Twiston-Davies could be the jockey to partner Tidal Bay in the 2014 Aintree Grand National.

Twiston-Davies was without a winner at the Cheltenham Festival, despite some high profile rides, but Nicholls is standing by the rider and believes he could be the right man to partner his National hope.

Discussing the free ride on Tidal Bay, Nicholls mentioned: "I suspect Sam will be top of the list. We'll have to sort it out, probably later in the week, but I'm hoping Sam might be available."

  • Monbeg Dude set to bounce back on Merseyside

Michael Scudamore is confident that Monbeg Dude can bounce back to form in the Aintree Grand National on April 5th.

Monbeg Dude could only finish fifth in the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster last time out but Scudamore doesn’t believe that will hold him back on Merseyside.

The trainer commented:  "I am delighted with him.  "He hadn't run for a long time and we needed to get a race into him and we came here knowing this ground would be a bit too quick and the course would be a bit too sharp. But the way he kept on galloping, I think we've got to walk away happy.

"We've got a month now to freshen him up and prepare him for the Grand National. In terms of where we want to be with him, it's a big box ticked."
